The meter comes out before anything is quoted. A reading under load separates a supply fault from a failed board, and it costs nothing to take.

What we check, and in what order

A built-in appliance has four things that can be wrong with it, and they are not equally likely or equally expensive. We work through them in the order that costs you least: supply and circuit, then airflow and clearance, then the sealed or heated system, then the control board. Most warm-refrigerator calls end at airflow or defrost. Most oven calls end at an element leg or a temperature sensor. Neither is the part people arrive expecting to buy.

The two things that shorten appliance life in St. Johns County are the ocean and the weather. Within a mile or two of the water, in the 32084 ZIP and on the island, condenser fins take on a grey fur that is corrosion product rather than dust, and hinges, latches and fasteners go with them. Everywhere else, the season does it: roughly 68 thunderstorm days a year, multi-day outages after the big storms, and control boards that fail weeks later with nothing obvious to blame.

Before the estimate

A voltage reading under load and a level across the opening cost nothing and rule out the faults that only look like a failed board.

Straight answers

What does a service visit cost?
A visit is a flat $129 diagnostic. That covers travel, testing and a written explanation of what failed and why. If you approve the repair, the $129 is credited toward it. You get a written estimate before any part is ordered or any labor is billed, so nothing is open-ended.
Are you affiliated with Thermador?
No. Matanzas Kitchen Service is an independent appliance repair company. We are not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Thermador or its parent company. We name the brand only to say which appliances we work on. If your appliance is still inside its factory warranty, call the manufacturer first — that work should cost you nothing.
What warranty comes with the repair?
Ninety days on our labor and three hundred sixty-five days on the parts we install. We fit genuine OEM parts, not aftermarket equivalents, because control boards and valves in these appliances are matched to the model rather than generic.
Which areas do you cover?
St. Augustine and St. Johns County, out to roughly forty miles. That includes Palencia, World Golf Village, King & Bear, Murabella, SilverLeaf, Marsh Creek, Davis Shores, Camachee Island and Sea Colony. We are a mobile service and keep no walk-in counter.
When can you come out?
Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 6:00pm, and Saturday 9:00am to 4:00pm. Closed Sunday. Appointments are scheduled in advance and we do not run an after-hours line, so a message left overnight is answered the next working morning.
Do you work on other brands?
No. We service Thermador appliances only. Staying with one manufacturer means one set of service manuals, one parts catalogue and one family of control boards to know properly, which is what shortens a diagnosis from two visits to one.

The upper rack rails had come apart and the rack tipped whenever it was loaded. He fitted new rails and adjusters on both sides and levelled the machine while he was under there. It rolls straight again.

Delia U.

Ours leaked from underneath after every brew. He found a hairline crack in the water tank housing and renewed it. It is dry now, but the part took a while to arrive and we went without for longer than expected.

Alaric M.

The recirculation filters were doing nothing and the kitchen held on to every smell. He showed me they had never once been changed, fitted the right ones and checked the seal around the frame. The difference was immediate.

Callum I.
